Andre Ayew misses penalty as Nottingham Forest loses to Tottenham

Ghana captain Andre Ayew missed the chance to score his first goal for Nottingham Forest as he failed to convert a late penalty in their 3-1 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

This is the second consecutive penalty Ayew has missed after his crucial miss in the World Cup against Uruguay that saw Ghana eliminated from the group stage.

Harry Kane opened the scoring for Spurs with a header from Pedro Porro’s delivery before scoring his 20th league goal of the season from the penalty spot following Joe Worrall’s foul on Richarlison.

Despite Richarlison having a goal disallowed for offside, Son Heung-min doubled Spurs’ lead by directing the Brazilian’s cross into the bottom corner. Worrall pulled a goal back for Forest with a powerful header, but it wasn’t enough to get anything from the match.

Forest’s defeat was compounded by Fraser Forster’s late penalty save, denying Andre Ayew a goal and a consolation for his team.

The result leaves Forest in 14th place, with their cushion over the bottom three being reduced to just three points.
