The Black Stars start their first competitive fixture in the year with a 2-0 win over Sudan at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The hosts started the game on a high, grabbing the first goal in just 19 minutes. Andre Ayew converted a direct free kick, much to the delight of CK Akonnor.
Sudan had a legimitate penalty shout waved off after the hour mark which triggered an angry reaction from the away side’s technical area.
Andre Ayew headed in a cross just before half time but the referee ruled it out for a foul. In the second half, the Black Stars created chances and were rewarded in the 80th minute. Andre Ayew dribbled past multiple Sudanese shirts and curled one in.
Ghana, who are top of the group after winning all their three games, will travel to Khartoum next week to play Sudan in the return fixture on Tuesday.
