Great Somas SA edged Rising Stars 2-1 in an exciting preseason friendly at the Boaster Astro Turf on Saturday morning. The visitors made an impressive start and broke the deadlock in the 4th minute when Cosmos capitalized on an attacking opportunity to put Great Somas ahead.
The early goal set the tone for a lively opening period, with both sides looking eager to test themselves ahead of the new season.
Rising Stars responded brilliantly to the setback and found an immediate answer two minutes later. Kofi restored parity in the 6th minute with a well-taken finish, bringing the home side level and delighting the supporters in attendance.
The equalizer sparked the contest into life as both teams pushed forward in search of another breakthrough.
However, the deadlock lasted only a few minutes. Benjamin Owusu once again proved decisive for Great Somas SA, restoring his side’s advantage in the 9th minute. The forward added to his recent hatrick against Accra Hotspurs. Following the early exchanges, both teams settled into the game, creating opportunities but finding it difficult to add to the scoreline.

The second half was closely contested, with Rising Stars pressing for an equalizer and Great Somas SA working hard to protect their slender lead. Despite several promising attacks, Rising Stars were unable to find a way through the resolute Great Somas defence.
At the final whistle, Great Somas secured a 2-1 victory, with Cosmos’ brace proving the difference in a competitive preseason test that provided valuable preparation for both teams ahead of the forthcoming campaign.
