GHANA RUGBY FOOTBALL UNION SUPPORTS POLICE SPORTS UNIT AHEAD OF SESSA GAMES
The Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) has joined the growing number of partners supporting the Ghana Police Sports Unit as preparations intensify for the upcoming SESSA Games.
On Tuesday, 8th September 2026, a delegation from the Union, led by its President, Ms. Rafatu Inusah, together with Board Members Mr. Emmanuel Kalos and AICOL Adamson Christian Percy, paid a courtesy visit to the Ghana Police Headquarters in Accra to make a presentation in support of the Unit.
The Union indicated that it had observed the support being extended by individuals to the Ghana Police Sports Unit towards its SESSA Games preparations and was inspired to also contribute to the collective effort.
The delegation consequently presented five boxes of sanitary pads, five boxes of Kleesoft washing powder, five boxes of Kleesoft washing bar soap, five boxes of Kovo gari, and GH₵1,000.00 in cash to support the Unit’s preparations.
The donation was received on behalf of the Ghana Police Sports Unit by the Director-General/Human Resource, COP Mr. Kofi Blagodzi, together with his Staff Officer and the Director of Sports, ASP Bernice Rashidatu Abdulai Timbilla, in the presence of other personnel.
Speaking on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, COP Mr. Kofi Blagodzi expressed appreciation to the President and Board Members of the Ghana Rugby Football Union for their timely intervention and commitment to the development of sports within the Ghana Police Service.
He noted that the donation would contribute meaningfully towards the Unit’s preparations for the SESSA Games and called on corporate institutions, organizations and well-meaning individuals to take a cue from the Ghana Rugby Football Union and support the Ghana Police Sports Unit in its quest to achieve greater heights.
In a special gesture of appreciation, the Ghana Rugby Football Union also presented a rugby jersey to the Director of Sports, ASP Bernice Rashidatu Abdulai Timbilla, acknowledging her support for the Union and her efforts towards promoting rugby and facilitating its inclusion as an official sporting discipline within the Ghana Police Service.
The Ghana Police Sports Unit deeply appreciates the Ghana Rugby Football Union for this gesture. Partnerships such as these go beyond donations—they strengthen athlete welfare, create opportunities and contribute to building a stronger sporting culture within the Service.
As preparations for the SESSA Games continue, the Sports Unit remains committed to ensuring that Ghana Police athletes are adequately prepared to represent the Service with discipline, excellence and pride.
Together, we are building stronger athletes, stronger partnerships and a stronger Ghana Police Sports Unit.
