The Ghana U-17 female national team, the Black Maidens, delivered a sensational performance at the Accra Sports Stadium after thrashing Liberia 6-0 in the first leg of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers on Saturday afternoon.
The Maidens dominated the encounter from the opening whistle, displaying attacking brilliance, tactical discipline, and relentless pressing throughout the match. Ghana controlled possession, created numerous chances, and overwhelmed the visitors with pace and movement across all departments.

Daniella Abass opened the scoring in the 31st minute after sustained pressure from the hosts, giving Ghana a deserved lead before halftime.
After the break, the Black Maidens returned with even greater intensity. Captain Seidatu Wahab calmly converted from the penalty spot to double Ghana’s advantage before Linda Achiaa added the third goal moments later. Jessica Appiah then made it 4-0 in the 60th minute as Liberia struggled to cope with Ghana’s attacking momentum.

Priscilla Mensah extended the lead in the 73rd minute before Mavis Yeboah completed the demolition with a late goal to seal a comprehensive 6-0 victory for Ghana.

The result places the Black Maidens in a strong position ahead of the return leg in Monrovia next weekend as Ghana edges closer to another appearance at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. Coach Joe Nana Adarkwah’s side once again demonstrated why they remain one of Africa’s strongest youth women’s teams with a performance full of confidence, energy, and clinical finishing.
