Coach Milovan Rajevac left the Black Stars of Ghana after the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa when the country needed him the most.

Milovan was then taking $35,000 as monthly salary when the FA engaged him to increase his salary to $50,000 he rejected it and left to Al Ahli to take $2 million a year.

The 67-year-old remains Ghana’s most successful coach in the last three decades, having managed the team from 2008 to 2010.

Milovan guided the Black Stars to the final of the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where they lost narrowly to Egypt.

The Serbian tactician also took the West Africans to the quarter-finals of the World Cup in South Africa, making Ghana only the third African nation to reach that far.

Why Milo left Black Stars job after the 2010 World Cup

1. He had an offer from Al Ahli that guaranteed him $2 million a year.

2. Before this, he had promised the FA hierarchy he will renew his contract after the World Cup in South Africa.

3. Understand former GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi opened talks for a contractual renewal in South Africa. I can’t tell if the offer was an improved one from the previous salary.

4. He was then paid $35,000 per month.

5. He allowed the contract to run out so that he could leave for Al Ahli and earn $2 million for a year.

6. He makes a return after almost 11 years. He will be on $45k per month, almost same as the salary he was paid when he was here between 2008 and late 2010.

His announcement was expected today, but it appears could happen on Wednesday because tomorrow is a holiday.
