Ghana Maintains Its Position On The Current FIFA World Ranking

FIFA has revealed its final global rankings for 2020, after 352 international matches were completed this year.

Not since 1987, when only 323 games were played, have so few international fixtures taken place in a calendar year.

Ghana finished 52nd in the world and 8th on the African continent with 1424 points, the same as last month’s position.

Despite the disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Belgium managed to stay at the top for a third year running.

Roberto Martinez’s side won six of their eight matches in 2020, and remained ahead of France and Brazil in the top three.

England also retained their spot in comparison to 2019, finishing 2020 in fourth position, with Portugal a new entry in the top five compared to last year.

Spain and Argentina follow in sixth and seventh place, respectively, having both climbed two spots in 2020.

Uruguay have regressed but remains in the top 10, sitting in eighth position, while Mexico and Italy again occupy ninth and 10th place.

Burundi made the biggest jump in the ranking in 2020, moving up 13 positions compared to 2019.

Senegal ends 2020 as the highest-ranked CAF nation, finishing in 20th position, while the Black Stars of Ghana concluded the year in 52nd position.
