Team Ghana narrowly missed out on a place in the medal race of the mixed 4x100m freestyle relay at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Glasgow after finishing with a time of 3:53.60.
The Ghanaian quartet delivered a determined performance but fell short of the national record of 3:42.97, ending their campaign outside the medal positions.
Despite the spirited effort, the time was not enough to secure qualification for the final, as the fastest relay teams advanced to the medal race. Team Ghana’s result highlighted both the progress of the country’s swimmers and the challenge of competing against some of the Commonwealth’s strongest swimming nations.
The teams that qualified for the mixed 4x100m freestyle relay final and their times were:
- Australia – 3:28.41
- England – 3:30.15
- Canada – 3:31.82
- Scotland – 3:32.47
- South Africa – 3:33.88
- New Zealand – 3:35.26
- Singapore – 3:37.94
- Wales – 3:39.81
Although Ghana did not challenge for a medal, the athletes gained valuable experience competing on one of the biggest stages in Commonwealth sport.
The performance also provides a benchmark for the team as they continue their preparations for future international competitions, with the national record remaining a target for the country’s emerging swimming talents.
