Badminton Confederation Africa, Ghana Badminton Complete BWF Level 1 Coaching Course in Accra

Accra successfully hosted the BWF Coach Education Level 1 Course from 6 to 12 July 2026, as the Badminton Confederation Africa (BCA), in partnership with the Ghana Badminton Association, continued efforts to strengthen badminton coaching across the continent.

The seven-day programme which was held at the Borteyman Sports Complex brought together 10 coaches from Ghana and Nigeria, who underwent intensive theoretical and practical training designed to improve their coaching knowledge and technical expertise.

The course focused on key aspects of badminton coaching, including coaching principles, player development, technical skills, tactical awareness, session planning, and effective coaching methods. Participants were also introduced to internationally recognised coaching standards under the Badminton World Federation’s education framework.

The initiative forms part of BWF’s commitment to building the capacity of coaches and ensuring that athletes across Africa benefit from quality instruction at the grassroots and elite levels.

For Ghana, hosting the course reflects the Ghana Badminton Association’s continued dedication to developing the sport through education and international collaboration. By working closely with the Badminton Confederation Africa, the association is creating more opportunities for local coaches to gain globally recognised qualifications while strengthening badminton development in the region.

Upon completing the programme, the coaches are expected to apply their newly acquired knowledge in their respective communities, clubs, and institutions, helping to nurture the next generation of badminton players in Ghana and Nigeria.

The successful staging of the BWF Coach Education Level 1 Course further highlights Ghana’s growing role as a destination for badminton development and coach education in Africa.
