Ghana Badminton Completes Historic International Disability Coaching Workshop, Sets Sights on LA 2028

The Ghana Badminton Association has successfully concluded its groundbreaking three-day International Disability Coaching Workshop, marking a major milestone in the development of Para Badminton in Ghana.

The three-day workshop was held at the Borteyman Sports Complex, with the closing ceremony taking place on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

The event, the first of its kind to be held in Ghana, equipped coaches with specialized knowledge and practical skills to support athletes with disabilities, strengthening the country’s commitment to inclusive sports development.

As a key outcome of the programme, Ghana Badminton has established a solid elite para badminton squad under its High Performance Programme, with a clear focus on preparing athletes for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games and future international competitions.

The initiative reflects the association’s long-term vision of creating opportunities for persons with disabilities to compete at the highest level while expanding the reach of para badminton across Ghana.

Officials expressed confidence that the successful completion of the workshop has laid a strong foundation for the sport’s future, describing it as the beginning of a new era for para badminton in the country.

With a renewed commitment to excellence and inclusion, Ghana Badminton believes the next generation of para badminton stars is already emerging.

As the association proudly declared: “The stars are born. Para badminton is on the rise.” The successful workshop reinforces Ghana’s ambition to become a leading force in para badminton on the African continent and beyond as it builds towards LA 2028.
