Black Queens, Black Princesses and Black Maidens Lead Ghana’s Women’s Football Success

Ghana’s women’s football continues to make significant strides, with the country’s national teams recording impressive achievements across various age categories while clubs also prepare to fly the nation’s flag in continental competition.

At the youth level, the Black Damsels successfully defended their title to become back-to-back CAF African Schools Football Championship U-15 Girls champions, underlining Ghana’s growing strength in grassroots women’s football.

The Black Maidens have also secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, continuing their proud tradition of competing on the global stage after an outstanding qualifying campaign.

Earlier this year, the Black Princesses booked their place at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, which will be held in Poland in August and September, reaffirming Ghana’s status as one of Africa’s leading producers of young female football talent.

At the senior level, the Black Queens qualified for the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, scheduled for July and August. The tournament will also serve as part of the qualification pathway for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, giving Ghana another opportunity to compete among Africa’s elite.

On the club front, Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC will represent Ghana in the WAFU B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers this August as they seek a place in the CAF Women’s Champions League, aiming to continue Ghana’s growing influence in women’s club football.

These achievements reflect the steady progress of women’s football in Ghana, highlighting successful talent development, improved competitiveness, and a promising future for the women’s game at both national and club levels.
