Ghana’s legendary striker, Asamoah Gyan says he is not physically fit to play for the Black Stars but won’t rule out participating in the World Cup in Qatar.

The country’s all-time leading scorer has not featured for the Black Stars since the Nations Cup in 2019 and has been inactive for a year. In an interview with Peace FM in Accra, Asamoah Gyan said he has to justify his inclusion in the team if he has to play at the World Cup.

“As far as I am not retired, I have to earn the call up. I have to train and get a team and also be performing to get a call. I have to get the call up based on merit,” he said.

“I’ve heard of the Roger Milla story, but the most important thing is I have to be fit physically. I am naturally gifted and can do anything on the pitch but physically I don’t think I am ready,” he added.
